Bailey is a rising sophomore at Earlham College, and is currently a summer intern at the farm. From Columbus, Ohio, Bailey attended an experiential high school, Linworth Alternative Program. There she helped maintain the school’s composting system and took classes such as “CSI: Culinary Science Investigations,” and “Plains Indian–a class all about the culture and life of indigenous peoples of the plains,” along with many other applicable subjects.
Bailey also lived on an intentional Egalitarian Community in Missouri, East Wind, for 3 months. There she learned about sustainable living, gardening, livestock care–especially goats, and the importance of a strong community. She was inspired by this experience to continue her education in farming, and also in communal living. Miller Farm provides an opportunity for her to work with people, and with the land. She also wants to learn more about agriculture and wishes to some day have her own farm. Bailey hopes to ultimately be able to produce the majority of her food, along with being an elementary school art teacher.
