Ellen has been at Earlham for 3 years now. She is a rising senior Environmental Studies major. She spent the Spring of 2013 on the other side of the world in New Zealand learning about sustainability and environmental issues there. This is also the place she became interested in farming and sustainable living. Ellen applied to work on Miller Farm to not only learn more about the process of growing your own food, but also so that she could become involved with an aspect of Earlham that she had previously no experience. Ellen’s goal is to learn the basics of farm life: How to tend to gardens, take care of farm animals, and run a stand at the farmers market. Ellen is hoping that this summer she can also learn to play the banjo, create new recipes using veggies grown on Miller Farm, improve her Spanish, and spend more time riding her bike and exploring Richmond, Indiana.
